EVALUATION OF Senna Uniflora (MILL.) LEAF EXTRACT AND ITS TOPICAL GEL FORMULATION FOR BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

The traditional medicines involve the use of plant extracts particularly the bioactive components present in it. This type of study provides the health application at affordable cost. Secondary metabolites in plants are responsible for various medicinal uses of plants. Hence present phytochemical screening of Senna uniflora (Mill.) H.S. Irwin &Barneby was carried out. Qualitative phytochemical analysis of this plant confirms the presence of various phytochemicals like Alkaloids, Flavonoids, Quinones, Saponins, Sterols, Terpenoids, Tri terpenoids and etc., of Ethanol and Water extracts by extraction method. The senna uniflora leaf extract evaluate antioxidant activity .The result relevted that at 250ug/ml the ethanol extract showed 82.80 and gel showed 80.25 respectively water extract also showed same concentration at 250ug/ml 82.26 and gel showed 82.71. The results of the present study indicate that, of the Senna uniflora and its gel formulation evaluated and can be used as a potent source of natural antioxidants.
