Abstract

In the present study the extracts prepared using plant materials of Loranthuselasticusof Loranthaceae grown on the Peepal Tree (in Tamil ArasaMaram – Ficusreligiosa) were evaluated for their antioxidant activity by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydracyl (DPPH), ferric ion reducing power antioxidant activity (FRAP), Nitrc oxide (NO) scavenging assay and the Total phenolic and flavonoid content are studied.  The hydro-methanolic extract of the plant material was found to possess significant antioxidant activity. The preliminary phytochemical screening of the plant material was done and the results are discussed.
