Abstract

A difference spectrophotometric method for the estimation of piroxicam in pharmaceutical formulation was developed. The method is based on the nullification of UV absorbance at the wavelength corresponding to the point of intersection of drug spectra in acidic and basic media. The amplitude (?max - ?min) of difference spectra followed Beer-Lamberts law in 2-10 g/ml concentration range. The method was validated by statistically and recovery studies and was found to be accurate and precise.
